“I help high-functioning, busy adults who are used to holding everything together finally slow down, get clear, and take back control of their life.” I am currently accepting clients in Illinois, Minnesota, and Rhode Island. I am YaShica Maxwell, MA, MSW. LCSW, LICSW. My pronouns are she/her/hers. You are used to being the strong one. The dependable one. The one who keeps everything moving. On the outside, things look fine. On the inside, you may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or mentally exhausted. I work with adults who are managing multiple stressors at once, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Many of my clients are balancing responsibilities while carrying emotional weight they have not had space to process. My approach is calm, grounded, and intentional. I create a space where you can slow down, speak openly, and feel heard without judgment. You do not have to perform here. You do not have to have everything figured out before you begin. Our work is focused. I use evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, to help you understand your patterns, challenge unhelpful thinking, and create real, practical change in your daily life. I balance empathy with clear guidance so you can gain insight, build emotional awareness, and move forward with confidence and stability. I help you build awareness, strengthen coping skills, and develop clear, healthy boundaries so you can move through life with more clarity, confidence, and control. I am committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care. I work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, veterans and military families, BIPOC communities, and people of faith and non-faith. You will be respected and supported in a way that aligns with your values and lived experience. If you are ready for a space that is both supportive and focused, where you can slow down, be honest, and still make real progress, I invite you to schedule a consultation or book your first session. I also offer social work supervision for MSW-level clinicians in Illinois and Rhode Island.
“I help high-performing Black and Brown men who carry silent pressure break through mental overload, strengthen their mindset, and lead with clarity, discipline, and control.” I currently accept clients in Louisiana, Minnesota, and Texas. I am Alfonso Holmes, MA, LPC-S. My pronouns are he/him/his I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. I began my work in mental health in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, supporting individuals and families navigating loss, stress, and major life transitions. That experience shaped how I show up today, grounded, culturally aware, and focused on real-life healing. I specialize in working with Black and Indigenous people of color, with a strong focus on men who are used to being the strong ones. The provider. The one who figures it out. I support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment issues, and the emotional weight that often goes unspoken. I understand that many people are used to saying “I’m handling it” or “I’ll figure it out.” You may have learned to carry things on your own, stay strong, and push through. Over time, that can lead to mental fatigue, emotional shutdown, and feeling disconnected from yourself and others. Mental health is especially important for people of color because of the daily internal pressure many face, along with the historical weight that is often carried without support. Many have been taught to rely only on themselves, to push through, and to avoid appearing weak. Stigma, family expectations, and even spiritual beliefs can make it harder to reach for help. In my work, I often hear “I’m figuring it out” or “I’m dealing with it.” When we slow that down, it often means emotional strain, survival mode, pressure to rise above stereotypes, and the need to keep everything together without a safe place to release it. I respect the role of spirituality as a source of strength and guidance. At the same time, I help clients build additional tools so they are not carrying everything alone, especially when dealing with anxiety, depression, or deeper emotional challenges. I also provide an affirming, judgment-free space for LGBTQIA+ individuals who want to do this work while being fully seen and respected. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based techniques to help you build awareness, regulate emotions, and create real, lasting change. Our work focuses on practical tools you can apply in your daily life to think clearly, respond with intention, and move forward with control. If you are ready to stop carrying everything on your own and start doing the work in a way that feels real, focused, and effective, I invite you to schedule a consultation or book your first session. I also provide clinical supervision for developing clinicians who want to strengthen their skills, build confidence, and practice with clarity and professional integrity.
