Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility
You Are Not Alone. Come As You Are.
Empowered Harmony Counseling, Psychiatry and Wellness Center

At Empowered Harmony Counseling, Psychiatry & Wellness Center (EHC), healing begins with being seen, heard, and valued for who you are. Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility is not just words, it is the heartbeat of our mission. We honor the fullness of human experience and uphold the dignity of every person in our care. At EHC, every patient deserves equal access to compassionate, high-quality services in an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment, for patients, families, and providers alike.

Anti Racism and DEI Commitment
EHC is fully committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and anti racist environment for all clients, contractors, community partners, and collaborators. Our foundation is rooted in healing, empowerment, justice, and accountability. Racism, exclusion, and discrimination have no place within our clinical or operational practices.
Anti racism at EHC means taking a clear, active stance against all forms of racism, including systemic, interpersonal, institutional, and internalized. We continually evaluate and update our policies, language, and organizational decisions to prevent harm and uphold our values. Racism is a public health crisis. EHC operates as both a healing sanctuary and a catalyst for change.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are core values at EHC. Diversity acknowledges the rich spectrum of human differences, encompassing race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, and cultural identity. Equity means ensuring fair access to care and opportunity while addressing systemic barriers. Inclusion is the daily, intentional effort to create spaces where everyone feels respected, safe, and valued.
Contractor Expectations and Cultural Responsibility
As an independent contractor-based practice, EHC does not employ staff in the traditional sense. All mental health professionals, coaches, and wellness providers operate under independent contractor agreements and are responsible for maintaining their professional education and compliance.
However, EHC strongly encourages all contractors to complete ongoing training in areas such as implicit bias, cultural humility, trauma-informed care, military cultural competency, disability awareness, and LGBTQIA+ allyship. These trainings reflect not only industry best practices but also our organizational standards for ethical, respectful, and inclusive care.

Cultural competency is essential to the work we do. While we do not mandate training, we prioritize collaboration with providers who demonstrate a commitment to cultural responsiveness, inclusive ethics, and professional integrity. These values are key indicators of alignment with the EHC mission.
Representation, Military Roots, and Accountability
EHC is proudly founded and owned by a psychotherapist, Neurodivergent, Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) woman. Our leadership reflects the communities we serve. We uplift lived experience and build inclusive systems from the inside out.

We honor our military and veteran roots. Our founder’s spouse is a United States Army veteran, and their family includes an active duty service member. We understand the complex intersections of trauma, racism, and institutional barriers that often impact military families. Especially families of color. Our providers are encouraged to develop the competence to support this population.

We also apply our anti racism and DEI standards to all partnerships, vendors, and collaborators. We carefully assess alignment before engaging professionally and maintain internal systems for confidential reporting, ethical review, and ongoing accountability.
Safe Spaces and Non-Discrimination
EHC creates intentional, trauma-informed spaces that affirm and support LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, people with disabilities, interfaith communities, immigrants, neurodivergent clients, and survivors of all forms of trauma. We acknowledge historical and systemic harm, validate lived experience, and strive to build trust through consistency and transparency.

Accessibility Commitment
Accessibility is not optional, it is our ethical responsibility. Empowered Harmony Counseling is committed to providing accessible, inclusive, and compliant services. Our digital platforms are designed with ADA compliance in mind. We offer flexible communication options, including secure messaging, video, audio, and written formats. Providers are expected to implement reasonable accommodations and may request additional support when needed.

Interpreter Services
Patients have the right to receive care in the language they understand best. Interpreter services, including American Sign Language (ASL), are available at no additional cost to the patient. Please notify our office at least 48 hours before your appointment if you need interpreter assistance.

As a privately owned practice that contracts with independent providers, interpreter fees will never exceed the patient’s self-pay rate or insurance reimbursement. Providers may choose whether to absorb interpreter costs, but they are not required to take on financial hardship or provide services without compensation. This ensures equitable access to care while respecting the professional and ethical boundaries of our contracted providers.

ADA Compliance Statement
EHC is committed to complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and all applicable state and federal regulations. We strive to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access our facilities, telehealth platforms, and services without encountering any barriers.

If you need materials in an alternative format, support for hearing or vision, or other accommodations, please let us know. We will make reasonable efforts to meet your needs.

Cultural Competency Pledge
We recognize the importance of culturally competent care. Our providers are trained to respect and affirm the diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, religious, gender, sexual identity, and socioeconomic backgrounds of the patients we serve.
EHC is committed to:
-
Delivering care that honors each patient’s cultural values and identity.
-
Providing ongoing training for providers in equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practices.
-
Actively working to reduce barriers to care for underserved and historically marginalized communities.
